Waist Training

What is a Waist Trainer and What Can It Do For Me?

Hello OC Blog Readers! It has been a long time since I stepped behind the keyboard to write a blog, but wanted to share a little about all the buzz and chatter around the term “waist trainer”. Orchard Corset has been in the waist training business a very long time and we work tirelessly to share what we know about corsets, cinchers and shapewear-both specifically about our products and generally for similar products around the industry.

Steel boned waist trainers vs. latex waist trainers

CS_426_Maroon_Mad2086fSteel boned corsets are synonymous with waist trainers-they can actually train your waist (it takes a great deal of dedication and patience). Steel boned waist trainers-corsets-are our primary product line. We have developed many new styles in recent years to help increase the number of body types that can wear an off-the-rack corset well. The majority of very serious waist trainers (ie, Sarah Chrisman) have corsets custom made to fit them precisely as they often wear their corset 23 hours each and every day. Many of our customers are looking to get some immediate (and dramatic) curves, which a corset will absolutely do! Many others choose corsets to assist in portion control to help with weight loss, support for back problems, cosplay, weddings or just because the hug from a corset provides a level of emotional security. They also look fantastic and will add a dramatic twist to anything you’re wearing!

Kim-Kardashian-Waist-TrainerLatex waist cinchers -made famous by a plethora of celebrities, most noticeably Kim Kardashian-will give you an instant boost towards achieving hourglass curves. You can usually get a reduction of 1-3 inches with a latex waist cincher (commonly, but inaccurately, called “waist trainers”-we think the term waist tamer would be much more accurate!). However, you are not able to achieve the same results you can with a corset-which laces and allows you to cinch a few more inches off. Latex cinchers also work great under clothing, and are typically easier to wear undetected (although our mesh corsets are pretty stealthy under clothing as well).

Both are great options and can be used interchangeably depending on the occasion or activity. The best waist trainer (or waist tamer) is of course the one that you will wear! As always are sizing experts are ready to help with any questions or concerns about all of our waist trimming products!

I have been with Orchard Corset since June of 2012 and what a journey it has been! I've gone from complete newbie to Marketing Director to Chief Operations Officer and I've learned more about corsets, corseting, shapewear, social media and myself than I would have ever thought possible. I have really enjoyed the journey and we at Orchard Corset are dedicated to providing a wealth of information for new and seasoned corseters alike.

Hello, I’m s school teacher, and recently started corset training; I have been using waist trainers for some time too. My question is, will it look ok for a teacher to wear a corset???

We love to hear from you!
