So You Think You Can Decorate…
The fun and creative environment at Orchard Corset never ceases to “cinch” you in. We were recently invited to participate in a contest to decorate a corset however we were inspired. We had an optional evening to meet after work to share tools, techniques, designs, etc.
I drew the inspiration for my corset from the cover of the novel Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey. The color scheme and the beautiful image of the rose became my vision. I selected the CS-426 in maroon satin which is just one of the many gorgeous colors I love in our corset line. I worked tirelessly, cutting out a template for the image of the rose that is on the book cover. I stayed well within a $15.00 budget and found the most awesome tiny, self-adhesive rhinestones to add some sparkle to my design.
All was going well as I applied the metallic black fabric paint, and I was so pleased with my color combination. I learned a hard lesson, though, with regard to painting on my roses. It seems, that one should ensure the corset is right side up before painting images on it. Wow, thank goodness for the metallic fabric paint! With the paint and rhinestones and beautiful OC satin laces, my end result was still stunning and nothing can stop me from adding the roses in the future. Pins on the left, loops on the right… got it!
