Corset Q & A Series

Corset Q & A Episode 17: Is it okay to tie my corset laces around my waist?

In our Corset Q & A series we’ll be giving you quick answers to some of the most common questions we get regarding steel boned corsets, waist training and corseting here at Orchard Corset.

Can I tie my corset laces around my waist when the laces are really long?

This week’s question was a suggestion from, Renee, our social media manager. She sees lots of pictures on Facebook and Instagram of laces wrapped around the waist of a corset. But why is that a problem??? Well, it causes a lot of added wear on the outside “fashion” fabric of the corset. The laces are constantly rubbing the fabric as you’re moving around when they are wrapped around the waist and, especially with a satin corset, they will wear the fabric down much faster and can eventually weaken it to the point that the fabric tears. Not cool, right?! So if you need to hide your laces and want to get the most in long term wear out of your corset, tie that bow in the back then tuck it under the laces at your lower back (works best for most) or pull it up and tuck it under the laces from the top. Here’s the Corset Q & A for hiding your laces.

Oh, and in case you’re curious, Cheri is wearing our CS 426 Short in black satin and Julie is wearing the original longline CS 426 in black satin!

Hiya! I'm the Marketing Director here at Orchard Corset, which is pretty much the best place ever to work! (like you hadn't already guessed THAT!) I live in beautiful Washington state with a husband a few animals and some kiddos in the mix. I prefer margaritas (on the rocks with salt) but a mojito will do in a pinch!

We love to hear from you!
