It’s the burning question on everyone’s mind….”Can I lose weight by wearing a corset?”, you know, the ‘corset diet’…. Aaaah, if ONLY it were as simple as putting on a corset and having the weight fall off…if that were the case we wouldn’t be able to keep enough corsets in stock to meet the demand! The fact is that simply wearing a corset won’t make you lose weight, however what it CAN do is give you a little bit of help with portion control. If you’re wearing a corset for several hours each day, including mealtimes, you just won’t be able to eat as much as usual. The corset acts almost like an external LAP band and restricts the amount of food that will fit in your stomach. Now, if you take your corset off* and proceed to stuff yourself to make up for all the food that you didn’t eat while you were wearing the corset, are you going to lose weight? Of course not! It’s calories in vs. calories expended, friends, and there is no substitute for eating good (for you) food and exercising!
*I personally have noticed though, that when I wear a corset for several hours (4-5) I still see a reduction in my appetite when I’m not wearing it.
