Wear It Wednesday Nov 11, What To Wear With Your Corset

Welcome to our Wear-It Wednesday series! Wondering what you can wear with your corset? We’ll break down an entire outfit, head to toe, that one of our ladies from Orchard Corset is wearing. We’ll let you know where she bought each item and how much she paid for it.

Hey Everyone! This weeks wear it Wednesday features Leanna, one of Orchard Corsets owners! I know that I have mentioned how creative other team members are with their outfits … but she takes the cake. She is someone that can take something dull and turn it into something beautiful, creative and stylish all while not spending a ton while doing it! Leanna is wearing a super cute shirt that she saved 75% off on that was purchased at Maurices ($6) and leggings from a local store: “Out On A Whim” ($20). Leanna always has great accessories and this outfit is no exception. She got the shoes at Shopko ($5), earrings at JCPenney’s ($5), the necklace from the North Bend outlet mall ($3) and the bracelet from ModCloth on clearance. She is rocking the satin CS-411 in royal blue.

Hey there all you blog fans! I'm Amber and I think working at Orchard Corset is the bees knees! I'm currently not allowed to drink French press coffee anymore....I can't handle it! Practical jokes are my favorite and scaring people is my specialty. High fives are the best greeting.

Questions regarding “what to wear” that your Wear it Wednesday outfits don’t answer for me.

When wearing the corset under clothing do you find that you FREQUENLTY have to replace your tops? The busk, just seems to wear pin holes in all my tops just below the waist. Any suggestions to solve this problem? I have to wear layer 1 to protect the corset from skin oils, followed by the corset, followed by layer 2 to protect the outer clothing, and then finally my outer clothing. It just seems excessive and can certainly get warm, so I feel I am missing something. However, this is what I have had to do if I want to keep my top around for more than a few wearings. I have looked for something that would just cover the busk, but haven’t come up with anything.

Also, when wearing the corset under how do you manage pants/skirts? I end up with a huge gap between MY waist and the clothing waist. Adding a belt only caused unsightly bunching that showed through my top.

My answer to these problems was to just wear the corset on top most of the time. Then I ran into the problem of how to get my clothing on or off when nature calls. Do you gals take your corset off and put it back on? When I want to wear it over clothing the corset either “locks” me in (eek – not good) or I feel like I am bending and damaging the corset to get my clothing tucked back under the corset and get it all wrinkle free. How do you deal with this?

So – I love my corsets, comfort and appearance, I just can’t quite get past these hurtles to get the regular use I would like to get without going Victorian in my clothing styles. You ladies all look like you have cleared these hurtles without sacrificing modern clothing. I would love any input you could give.

Hi Marissa! We don’t have that same issue with the busks damaging our tops, but most of us here wear our corsets over the top of our clothing. It is possibly though that if you are wearing something thin and more snug on top of the corset that it will damage that article of clothing. A tube top pulled over the corset would do the job without having to layer quite so many clothes.

Stealthing corsets is definitely a learning process and takes some creativity on your part. Have you watched our stealthing video?

For bathroom visits, it’s easiest to wear something on bottom that is either open like a skirt so that you aren’t having to tuck clothing back into the corset or something the sits right below your corset we have found. Lucy also has an entire blog devoted to it as well!

I hope that helped a little bit! Let us know if you still have some lingering questions 🙂

We love to hear from you!
